Meet Abby, your curator.

This website was born of my love for sharing food with others. I have always loved baking for friends and was often asked: “Where do you find your recipes?” I began creating Google Documents to share my latest favorites, but I never considered myself much of a home chef. In fact, I cooked simple, relatively boring meals at home and relied on culinary adventures to satisfy my foodie cravings.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, however, I realized I could easily cook crave-worthy meals at home. My mission with Cooking Curated is to help others do the same - by cutting through all the food noise online and pointing them in the direction of truly delicious recipes. By day, I am a PhD Candidate in Political Science at Stanford University- and I try to apply my research skills to uncovering the best food blogs available!

Tasting and making food has always been a joyful part of my life. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve spending Saturday mornings perusing the grocery store with my father or baking orange chocolate-chip cookies with my Grammy. An interest in the relationship between food and health came later, thanks to my mother. She began educating herself and our family about the relationship between nutrition and wellbeing, after my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

That being said, I do not follow one specific diet or eliminate foods from my life. I love cocktails, can make a mean pizza dough, and will never turn down a bakery-style chocolate chip cookies, but I was also the kid whose favorite food was grilled salmon. In general, I make meals and treats that give me joy, energy, and satisfaction— in other words, I “cook what I want to eat”. The recommendations on this site reflect this approach- and I encourage you to try the recipes that fit your own foodie desires.
